Smarttech (de makers van SMART Board en de bijbehorende SMART Notebook software) heeft aangekondigd dat er een nieuwe versie beschikbaar komt van SMART Notebook (versie 11). Gratis te downloaden voor de huidige gebruikers ergens verderop in het voorjaar (mei 2012?).
SMART Notebook versie 11 gaat werken op Windows (7 en XP) computers maar ook op Mac computers (Lion en Leopard). En dat is goed nieuws want de laatste versie (10.8) werkt juist niet met Mac IOS Lion.
Smarttech zorgt met SMART Notebook 11 voor een betere integratie van internet activiteiten binnen een presentatie (zo kan een website binnen in een dia bekeken worden) met de embedded web browser. Verder spreken de Reset page optie me wel aan en het maken van geluid(opnamen) Audio recording waarna deze bestandjes aan elk object gekoppeld kunnen worden. Dus een tekening van bijvoorbeeld een skelet kan voorzien worden van gesproken namen van alle botten, of een foto van een kerk kan voorzien worden van het woord church als gesproken tekst.

Enhanced contextual toolbar – Responds to actions by giving users the required tool choices when they choose a certain object
Crayon – Creates authentic crayon drawings on a SMART Board interactive whiteboard
Customized creative pen – Builds a unique creative pen from any image
Reset page – Brings SMART Notebook software page back to its last saved state to instantly start again
Gesture recognition – Supports four-touch interactivity for the SMART Board 800 series interactive whiteboard and the SMART Board 8070i interactive display. Also recognizes new shake gesture to group or ungroup objects.
Audio recording – Records sounds directly into a file
Shape image fill – Adjusts the size of an image to fit into a specific shape
Updated tables – Supports scaling, moving and interacting within tables more easily
New text engine – Provides improved text formatting and consistency
Fade ink – Fades any regular ink
Full-page frame – Allows borders of the page layout to be displayed
